Enchanting Street

Acrylics 29 x 32 cms. Saw a painting, loved it & tried to achieve similar...it looks like a real mess - but funny, I like it & yes it is my attempt at semi-abstract to free me from my obsession with detail.

Stoney Ridge Botanical Gardens Dee Why

Watercolour 28 x 37 cms ...
Stoney Range Regional Botanical Gdns at Dee Why .
An unexpected little pocket of Rain forest discovered during a walk, an Oasis hidden in the suburbia off Pittwater Road. I only hope that such precious gems will not disappear with encroaching developments.

Anemone flower with difference

28 x 20 cms WC,
used salt for the varied background.
This painting started as anemone and turned into "smtg" else....simply too hard to keep the pure white while trying to give the petals some depth.

Music Table with Natives & Scrolls

The beautiful music table was given to me by a friend. I had to sand the table top few times as it had some damage & then painted it in acrylics in various styles be it Norwg.Rosemaling, Hinderloopen & my own design of Austr. natives for the eyes to feast on.

Australian Natives

Australian Natives are such a joy to paint for me. Another little painting to be given away as a present -- light and easy to pack into a suitcase and still bring "Freude" to the recipient.

29 x 23 cms watercolour and acrylic.

Flowering Eucalypt with gumnuts and Wattle

I needed a present for someone and the inspiration was the red flowering eucalypt with gumnuts & wattle I see in the streets. Watercolour 30 x 20 cms.

Australian Natives

Australian Natives ... I cannot help myself, I just love painting them. To get a "mottly" varied effect in the background I used salt in the wet pigment. Painted on WC 300 gr paper with WC & acrylics.

Sunset at White Cliffs Opal Fields, Broken Hill Australia

Watercolour 38 x 28 cms. I played around with the foreground applying coarse sand with rice glue on the WC paper to get some rough texture of gravel, sand and stones.

Accommodation in an underground dugout motel on Smith Hill was comfortable and like a warren of passageways easy to lost oneself in.
In the evening we walked on top of the roof of the Motel to watch the amazing sunset. Some climbed the hill up from the outside of the motel, the others climbed the stairs up from the inside of the dugout.  Few pictures were taken where one of our co-travellers acted as a “Roboman” for fun creating amazing shadow.

Rainy Melbourne

Rainy Melbourne
Watercolour 39 x29 cms
Years ago I did this painting at a Merroo Workshop with Herman P. and have decided to tackle this difficult subject again hoping it may turn up somewhat better. Not a chance. I think I will abstain from Street Scenes in the future.

Lachlan River floods NSW

Watercolour 38 x 28 cms   Lachlan River  & Menindee Lakes floods NSW

I have taken numerous photos from the train trip from Sydney to Broken Hill (NSW).  Floods around Lachlan river & Menindee Lakes came very close to the railway tracks. Water everywhere with patches of grass & red earth poking through, trees marooned in the water.
