Vodnik (Water Sprite)

Vodnik na Vyhlidce  (Wassergeist - Water Sprite)
Watercolour 28 x 38 cms
This was a wooden carved figure of a Water Sprite (Wassergeist) at a Pension I stayed at few years back in Czech Republic.  I always wanted to paint it... but it has proven extremely difficult, combined with the watercolour paper which lost its sizing and became a blotting paper... I struggled all the way.
The background changed I did not want to detract from the focal Pt of vodnik.
Vodnik is a mythology figure & is the "scary green creature" in the waters who pries on little children ... so the story goes....

West McDonnel Ranges, N.T. Australia

West MacDonnell Ranges, Northern Territory, Australia
Watercolour,  Size 38 x 28 cms
One of snapshots from my Safari from Adelaide to Alice Springs
West MacDonnell National Park (Northern Territory) is a great example of an ancient landscape formed by climate changes. Magnificent & unique landscape.
The West MacDonnell National Park lies close to Alice Springs and stretches some 161 km west.
There are great walks, waterholes as Ellery Creek Big Hole, Ormiston Gorge...... A wonderful way to cool off on a warm day.

On the Way to Crosslands_ Hornsby Shire NSW Australia

Watercolour, Size 38 x 28 cms
One of those beautiful old burnt-out stumps of a gum tree, yet still standing upright with a few greyish leaves there and then. It is amazing how resilient the gum trees are.
I often walk to Crosslands, not far from my home and take photos ... I wanted to paint this tree for ages.
