Drought Stricken Land - Australia, jindebyne

This painting was an attempt at conquering that expensive WC "blotting" paper which lost all its sizing....if I were smart I wld chuck it!

Watercolour. Jindebyne Barry Way, the land is so dry, wispy grasses and the little bilabongs with none or little remaining "puddles".

Lemons and Hibiscus

Oil Lemons & Hibiscus... It was a struggle but I persevered. My parents divided their paintings between my brother and myself. My brother scored it .... so after much hesitation I decided to paint it for myself.

From Jindebyne to the Farm, Berry Way

Watercolour 38 x 28 cms
Berry Way from Jindebyne to the friends Farm.
Watercolour or blotting paper? The WC paper lost its sizing,.. either bin it or use for acrylics. ...
labourous effort this was.
I tried to show the dry parched country, the dire situation of severe drought in Australia, when there is so little or no food for animals, trees dying....

Wisteria

Wisteria Watercolour
24 x 35 cms
What a feast Wisteria is for the eyes, at present flowering everywhere in Sydney.
Approx 5 years ago I painted Wisteria and put it in for an exhibition. It was appropriated by a lady who loved it. She said she did not have any money on her.
Call me naive or stupid I believed that she would turn up with the money later on, after all I was selling it for a pittance. Needless to say, she disappeared into the thin air, never to be seen again. A Lesson learned.

On the Highway to the West McDonnell Ranges South Australia

Watercolour 38 x 26 cms.
It seems like a century ago when I snapped the photo on the way to West McDonnell Ranges, South Australlia, when the creek created a little billabong after the rain and the majestic gum got "cold feet" for a day or two. I always wanted to paint this and 3 1/2 years later here it is.

Australian Natives

I have been asked by a friend to do a Folkart workshop….I know it has gone a bit out of fashion.
But, maybe if I do a free-design of Australian Natives, improvise somewhat, pour paint on white WC paper for the background & thus get rid of the white, and create and random background to compliment the natives - feel worked quite well.   Painted in Jo-Sonja acrylics (gouache), WC 300 gm paper, 25 x 38 cms.
