Drying Rack - Norwegian Rosemaling.
I was asked by a friend to paint some folkart on her rack. Quite a daunting prospect. Afterall I stopped painting folkart designs, be it German folkart (Bauernmalerei) or Hinderloopen (Dutch) or Rosemaling (Norway) over 12 years ago and was not sure if my brush will oblige. This is my own design, roughly drawn with a pencil and then used flat brush for the scrolls.
If interested about the history of Norwegian Rosemaling... this is the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosemaling

Waiting for the Fishermen, Tea Gardens NSW
Watercolour Size 38 x 28 cms
Inspiration was my own photo taken at Tea Gardens in May 2013, NSW Australia
Tea Gardens is a small town on the Myall River, just a short drive
across the "whistling" bridge to neighbouring coastal town of Hawks
Nest. Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest lie at the mouth of the Myall River and
reflect a relaxed coastal lifestyle with a sense of peace and
tranquillity. From here you can journey into the Myall Lakes National
Park which is a spectacular blend of lakes, coastal forests &
beaches. The National Park is internationally recognised for its wetland
ecology and home to hundreds of species of birds
